Frequently asked questions
Garmin Connect “My Dives” overview
Garmin has confirmed a display issue where an imported or manually created dive may be stored correctly, counted in the total and show its dive number when opened individually—but may not appear correctly in the “My Dives” overview.
This is a Garmin Connect issue and is not caused by DiveLog Converter or the converted FIT file. Garmin is working on a permanent solution, but no release date is currently available.
Do not delete or repeatedly re-import the dive if Garmin confirms that it is already uploaded.
I will update this site with new information as soon as Garmin confirms that the issue has been fixed.
Changing or replacing a device
You can always sign in to your account. Reaching the two-device limit does not block account access—it only blocks conversion with Full Access on an additional device.
To replace an old device, sign in and open Help & Support → Contact & support. Choose Account / access and ask to have the old device removed.
Moving your Suunto dive history
How is DiveLog Converter different from other solutions?
DiveLog Converter is designed specifically for divers moving historical Suunto DM5 dive logs into the Garmin ecosystem.
Other solutions may require additional software, Java, command-line tools, manual file handling, or the use of a complete dive-log application.
DiveLog Converter keeps the process simple:
Suunto DM5 XML → Upload → Convert → Garmin FIT → Garmin Connect
No Java installation, command-line setup or manual XML editing is required. It also supports batch conversion, making it particularly useful for divers with larger historical DM5 archives.
Are there other ways to move Suunto dives to Garmin?
Yes. Tools such as Subsurface, SdeToFit and the Suunto app can be useful depending on how your dives are stored.
DiveLog Converter is intended for users who already have Suunto DM5 XML files and want a straightforward way to create Garmin-compatible FIT files without setting up additional conversion software.
DiveLog Converter is an independent project and is not affiliated with Garmin or Suunto.
Why not just export from the Suunto app?
The Suunto app can be useful for exporting dives that are already available there, but this is a different workflow from converting a larger historical DM5 archive.
DiveLog Converter is aimed at divers who already have Suunto DM5 XML files and want to convert many historical dives into Garmin-compatible FIT files in a simple browser-based batch workflow.
